In a galvanic cell of flat construction, for example an Ni/Cd button cell (1), the tablet-type pressed powder electrodes (2, 3) have a protective casing composed of an expanded-metal lattice work foil (4) which also assumes the role of the electric current collector. With a material thickness of between 0.05 and 0.15 mm a reinforcement of this type wears out less than otherwise standard wire gauzes and makes possible a wider variety in the size and shape of the lattice work meshes, depending on the degree of stretching. The metals from which the expanded material is formed are preferably nickel, stainless steel, nickel-plated steel and copper. <IMAGE> |
