The drive mechanism comprises an elastic adjustment which is positioned in the flow path of the discharged air on the impeller wheel (3). The air pressure in the part of the impeller wheel chamber (18) facing the drive-air jet (6) rises or drops according to the throttle action. The part of the impeller wheel chamber facing the jet is connected by ducts (17) to a further chamber (16) at least partly formed by an elastic, spring membrane (15). The housing (1) non-rotary part contains a membrane valve whose pressure chamber is connected to the impeller wheel chamber by a connecting duct and whose adjustment joined to the membrane alters the effective cross-section of the discharge (11) or feeder (7) duct for the air.
