Prodn. of distillable hydrocarbons (I) from scrap plastics and plastics-contg. waste materials (II) comprises mixing (II) with a suitable circulating medium (III) contg. 5-50 (pref. 5-20) wt.% of the hydrocarbons (I) from (II) with a boiling range of 350-500<0> C, and subjecting the mixt. to thermal treatment.
