During the manufacture of the container a data carrier or encodable element is integrated within it so that the container and the data carrier cannot be simply separated from one another. The information encoded into the element is extracted by a reader and decoder unit. The encodable element remains functional over repeated usage since it is protected from the usual types of damage encountered from wear and tear by conventional elements, which are either stuck or screwed onto the container.
