<p>Apparatus and processes are disclosed for carrying out chemical reactions of the type in which a fluidized particulate solid is contacted with reactants in a reaction vessel (10) and then separated from the reactant products and regenerated in a regenerator (12). The regenerator into an uppermost bed, an intermediate horizontal occlusion zone bed, and a lowermost bed. The intermediate occlusion zone inhibits backmixing of the fluidized particles, permitting temperature differences to be maintained between the upper and lower beds.</p> |
