This invention is an orthopaedic device in form of a strap with a hydraulic shock-absorber, intended to be worn on the wrists or limbs to compensate strain in muscles, tendons and cartilage when practicing certain sports or occupations. The unique shock-absorbing fluid-filled cushion reduces shocks gently and effectively. When muscle-strain gives rise to a shock-wave, it spreads into the fluid-filled cushion (2) and its nipple-formed projection (4) whereby the stretch cover of the projection expands and the shock-wave is absorbed and removed. The projection (4) functions as an excess-pressure accumulator. The plate (1) is made of a hard material and its both ends are slightly bent upwards in order to provide zones where the blood can circulate freely. One or more plates (1) can be linked together in a flexible way by velcro fasteners (3) whereby the distance between the plates and the circumferance of the whole strap can be adjusted so that it always takes up strain where it is at its greatest. |
