A method for analysing the phases of a multi-phase mixture by placing said mixture in a tubular measurement cell having a cylindrical cross-section, exposing said measurement cell to electromagnetic radiation, sensing the electromagnetic radiation backscattered from said mixture in a plane (P) perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of said tubular measurement cell, said longitudinal axis being vertical and said measurement cell being transparent, and sensing said backscattered electromagnetic radiation at a number of intervals along the entire longitudinal axis of said tubular measurement cell, according to a mixture measurement cycle. An apparatus for carrying out the method is also disclosed. Said method and apparatus may be used in fields requiring the analysis of the structure and stability of a multi-phase mixture or the determination of the structure of a mixture. |
