Process for manufacturing spacing sleeves for fixing vibrating systems

The sheet metal is perforated by multiple long holes. It is formed to sleeve leaving a gap between the adjacent edges. Half a long hole on one edge is next to another half hole on the other edge. At the end of the sleeve the material interlinks like a comb (82); a projection (84) on one side fits into a rebound (86) on the other side. The material in this area extends to nearly close the gap. A wire basket containing a number of these sleeves is dipped into a tempering fluid. During the heat treatment the curvature of the sleeve is increased and the gap closed.
