A videocassette (10) includes a slack limiter (20) for contacting the tape (12) and preventing the tape from spilling out of the cassette (10), and walls (24, 26, 28, 30, 32) for locating the slack limiter in the cassette. The videocassette housing includes two reel walls (28). Each reel wall (28) is located at the front and defines a respective reel area, and each slack limiter (20) is located adjacent the respective reel wall (28). Each reel wall (28) extends from the central area toward the adjacent side wall for such a distance that it extends sufficiently toward the front to prevent the slack limiter from bending past the tape guide roller (16).
