A process and device are disclosed for cleaning pasta presses, in particular for cleaning "on the spot" endless screws of screw extruders, mixer-kneaders and the like in the pasta industry. For that purpose, cleaning liquids are led through liquid-tight closed screw machines without dismounting them. The cleaning liquids are preferably recirculated and filtered.
