The dia. of the metal, cylindrical clamps (6a,b,c) in the adaptor section (3) are such that they abut each other and the inner wall of the adaptor section. One clamp (6a) has a threaded bore for a screw (5), whose tip is conical. The envelope surface of the tip abuts the outer faces of the other two clamps (6b,c). Pref. one end of the tubular adaptor section is fitted with a plate for securing to the underside of the desk top of such dia. that it is slightly less than the inner dia. of the tubular column (2).
