An IC engine with cooling system (2,4,5,7) and lubricating system (17,19,22) has a control unit (51). A thermal insulated accumulator tank (14) with pressure container (34) for storing heated engine oil which is fed from the coolant pump (2) via a valve (7,10). A drain pump (28) transfers all the oil from the oil sump to the pressure container. On re-starting oil is directed straight into the engine lubricating passages (22) via a valve (36) and cold coolant is replaced from the accumulator tank via a valve (10). The exhaust (40) is looped via a valve (47) to heat oil in the engine oil sump. |
