Rotary cutting apparatus including a framework supporting, between two vertical uprights (2), two superimposed cutting cylinders (4, 5), the two opposite coaxial stub axles (4b) of the upper cutting cylinder (4) being mounted respectively with rotation in two opposite bearing blocks (9) capable of sliding vertically whereas the two opposite stub axles of the lower cutting cylinder (5) are mounted with rotation in two bearing blocks (10) capable of sliding vertically on the two uprights, each of the upper bearing blocks (9) being extended by an overhanging part (9a) subjected to the action of a pressurising thrust cylinder, whereas each of the lower bearing blocks (10) is extended by an overhanging part (10a) above a stop piece (11), characterised in that it comprises, between each pair of upper bearing blocks (9) and lower bearing blocks (10), a wedge allowing the two blocks to bear on one another and in that the vertical plane containing the axis of each thrust cylinder is located between the vertical plane in which the wedge arranged between the bearing blocks (9, 10) is located and the vertical plane of the races (6, 5) of the two cylinders. ……
