<p>An assembly (1) disinfects a moving fluid by UV radiation emitted from a number of UV light sources (2, 2A) within transparent tubes (3). The fluid moving around the tubes (3) is exposed up to 75% cm<-1> UV radiation. The novelty is that: (a) a number of light sources (2, 2A) are bundled together to form a battery (5); (b) the direction of fluid flow is parallel to the axis of maximum UV source tube length; (c) the battery (5) of light sources is arranged in parallel rows; (d) adjacent sources in the same row are at pitch interval (A); (e) the distance from the centre of a light source in one row to the centre of the adjacent light source in the row above or below is twice the pitch (A) interval; and (f) the battery (5) is surrounded by a tubular housing (6) whose inner cross-section confirms closely to the cross-sectional area occupied by the outer light source (2) tubes (3). The pitch interval (A) between the neighbouring light sources (2, 2A) is between 40 and 80 mm.</p> |
