The x-ray device has a carrier plate (5) on which a support (4) is mounted. A main body (2) can be freely vertically adjusted on the support. An x-ray source (37) and a detector (21) of x-rays emanating from the x-ray source are mounted opposite each other in a pivot arm (1). The pivot arm is adjusted and driven along a desired path by a device (7) mounted between the main body and the pivot arm.The head of the patient is positioned and held by a holding device (14) in a desired radiography position between the x-ray source and the detector. A patient frame (3) mounted on the main body is attached to the holding device. Radiographical conditions are adjusted using a control panel which is mounted on the patient frame.
