A device to inject water into diesel engines depending on the cyclic movement of the inlet valve or piston has a water nozzleÄ3Ü located in front of the inlet valve in the inlet tract Ä8Ü. The nozzle has a pilot valve Ä4Ü operated by a control unit Ä8Ü, being opened in accordance with the firing sequence. The water is injected during the induction stroke. There is a pipeline Ä1Ü with pumpÄ7Ü and motor Ä7Ü feeding the distribution pipes Ä2Ü to the nozzles. The pilot valves have proximity switches on rocker arms. The control unit is a computer with a pulse amplifier. The input parameters are engine speed, piston position and/or engine operating conditions.
