<p>A process for the preparation of a compound of the formula <Underline>1</Underline><Chemistry id="chema01" num="0001"><Image id="ia01" he="55" wi="75" file="IMGA0001.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" /></Chemistry>
wherein R is hydrogen, loweralkyl, loweralkoxy or trifluoromethyl; R<Sub>1</Sub> is hydrogen or loweralkyl; R<Sub>2</Sub> is loweralkyl; R<Sub>3</Sub> is hydrogen, loweralkyl, loweralkoxy or trifluoromethyl; and m is 1 or 2, which comprises the steps of:
<UnorderedLists id="ula01" listStyle="none" compact="compact"><ListItem>(a) contacting a compound of the formula <Underline>11</Underline><Chemistry id="chema02" num="0002"><Image id="ia02" he="58" wi="79" file="IMGA0002.TIF" imgContent="chem" imgFormat="TIFF" /></Chemistry> wherein R, R<Sub>1</Sub>, R<Sub>2</Sub>, R<Sub>3</Sub>, and m are as above and X is iodo, bromo or chloro with formic acid in the presence of a metal catalyst; and<!-- EPO <DP n="3"> --></ListItem><ListItem>(b) isolating the product.</ListItem></UnorderedLists></p><p>The products produced by the process described have memory enhancing, analgetic and antidepressant properties.</p> |
