Drift component removing means 101, such as a highpass filter etc., removes a drift component (caused by a temperature change etc. of an acceleration sensor) from the deceleration signal detected by an acceleration sensor. High frequency component removing means 103, such as a lowpass filter etc., removes a high frequency component from the deceleration signal from which the drift component has been removed. Absolute value extracting means 105 extracts an oscillation component (generated by collapse of a vehicle structural member) from the deceleration signal from which the high frequency component has been removed, to fetch an absolute value of this oscillation component. Adding means 107 adds the absolute value and the deceleration signal outputted from the high frequency component removing means. Subtracting and integrating means 111 subtracts an offset amount from this sum and integrates the resulting value. Since it is possible to readily discriminate between a high-speed serious crash and a low-speed soft collision, it is possible to simplify tuning work such as setting of a threshold level etc. <IMAGE> |
