PURPOSE:To obtain an effective control device for induction motors using frequency or excitation content current signals that are calculated from the rotational angle frequency signals of an induction motor calculated by a speed arithmetic operation unit. CONSTITUTION:The control device for induction motors performs arithmetic operation based on the excitation content current command I0 and torque content current command I1 of an induction motor 9. The control device controls an inverter 7 and thus the induction motor 9 according to the thus calculated signals. Various frequency signals and excitation content current signals are obtained based on the rotational angle frequency signal omegan of the induction motor calculated by a speed arithmetic operation unit 11. These calculated signals are used to perform field-weakening control as well as arithmetic operations and other controls.
