ION SOURCE AND MASS SPECTROGRAPH

PURPOSE:To provide an ion source exhibiting high ionization efficiency without applying any voltage to a capillary and a mass spectrograph employing it. CONSTITUTION:A solution sample is introduced from a sample solution supply section 1 to a capillary in an ion source 2. Flow rate of gas from a gas supply section 3 is regulated by means of a flowmeter 4 and then the gas is introduced along the outer periphery of the capillary into a gas guide pipe constructed to eject the gas from the forward end of the capillary. The sample solution is ionized at the forward end part of the capillary through the action of the ejected gas and then analyzed by means of a mass spectrograph.
