A box 6, especially a so-called maternity packing box 6, which is also intended, moreover, as a first bed for the child, is used to form a cradle, at least for floor use, in that the box 6 itself or the lid, which is placed thereunder, is provided with at least one rocker 1; 2 or the like. The rocker 1; 2 suitably consists of a more substantial rocker section 1, comprising a horizontal surface 5, combined with a thinner projecting section 2. Where necessary, the detachable rockers 1; 2 are fixed by inserting the thinner, precisely dimensioned projecting sections 2 at least partially into a pocket-like recess 7 in the ends of either the box 6 or the lid. Where necessary, especially when forming a hanging cradle, the pair of rockers 1; 2 can be further connected by means of one or more longitudinal supports 4, which reinforce the bottom 8 of the box 6 and the entire construction. In the hanging cradle version the suspension devices 9; 10 are fixed, for example, to the ends of the rocker section 1. <IMAGE>
