PURPOSE:To enhance the electrolyte leakage resistance of an alkaline battery. CONSTITUTION:A KOH solution is stored in a stainless steel tank 1. While the KOH solution in the tank 1 is stirred with a blade 2 and a motor 3, nitrogen gas is introduced into the KOH solution from a supply pipe 4 with a pump 5 to make the inside of the tank 1 in the inert atmosphere. In this state, ZnO is heat-dissolved in the KOH solution in the tank 1. Since an electrolyte for an alkaline battery is prepared in the nitrogen gas atmosphere, oxidation reaction of stainless steel which is the material of the tank 1 is not advanced, and since nitrogen gas is introduced into the KOH solution while it is stirred, active gas such as oxygen is replaced with inert nitrogen gas. As a result, hydrogen gas generation in the alkaline battery is reduced, and electrolyte leakage of the alkaline battery caused by increase in internal pressure is prevented. |
