PURPOSE:To produce an ink for formation of an image free from feathering or bleeding and excellent in water resistance by dissolving an oil-soluble metal complex dye in a water-soluble organic solvent, blending the resultant dye solution with a water-containing solution and adding a prescribed amount of an alkaline (earth) metal, etc., thereto. CONSTITUTION:This ink for formation of image is produced by dissolving at least an oil-soluble metal complex dye such as C.I. Solvent Yellow 19 in a water-soluble organic solvent such as ethylene glycol to prepare a dye solution, blending a solvent containing at least water with the resultant dye solution and adding one or more kinds of inorganic salts selected from alkaline (earth) metal salts and polyvalent metal salts in an amount of 0.02 to 20wt.% based on the oil-soluble metal complex dye contained in the ink. In addition, formation of an image is carried out preferably under conditions of >=2m/see speed for discharging drops of the ink onto recording paper, 0.01 to 0.3mug weight of ink per one drop and 30 to 130 deg.C contact angle between ink and recording paper. |
