PURPOSE:To provide a simple and convenient image forming method for transferring an image to a recording medium of any desired shape by using a thermosensitive sublimation transfer process, and a thermal image transfer sheet for use in the same method. CONSTITUTION:A thermal image transfer sheet 2 comprises a base sheet 21, a dye receiving layer 22, and a dye releasing layer 23 that contains a hydrophilic material and is provided between the base sheet 21 and the dye receiving sheet 22. A dye image is formed in the dye receiving layer 22. The thermal image transfer sheet 2 is then brought into contact with a recording medium with the dye receiving layer 22 facing the medium, and then the sheet 2 is heated to transfer the dye image to the recording medium. After that, the sheet 2 is removed from the recording medium. |
