PURPOSE:To obtain an odorless high-quality carotenoid dyestuff used for the coloration of foods, medicines and cosmetics by removing the odor characteristics of the raw material and contaminants from a carotenoid- containing product. CONSTITUTION:An organic solvent in which carotenoid is difficultly soluble is added to an oil, fat or oleoresin having a carotenoid dyestuff the content of which is 0.3wt.% or above during or after its hydrolysis to obtain a high- quality carotenoid free from odoriferous ingredients and oil and fat ingredients, contaminants, etc., easily in a high yield. |
