PURPOSE:To jet ink without problems also after exchange of ink. CONSTITUTION:An ink tank 1 is divided into two chambers: an opening/closing chamber 9 which communicates with a vent 7 open in the atmosphere and an ink chamber 11 which holds an ink 3. The opening/closing chamber 9 consists of a slanting section 8 and a guide section 10, and a float 13 is arranged in the opening/closing chamber 9. The float 13 consists of a float section to be guided by the guide section 10 and a shut-off section 14 which can be in fast contact with the slanting section 8. When the quantity of the ink in the ink tank 1 becomes smaller than a predetermined quantity because of consumption of the ink 3 by a head, the float 13 moves to the lowest position in the opening/ closing chamber 9 and the shut-off section 14 of the float 13 and the slanting section 8 of the opening/closing chamber 9 come into fast contact, so that the communication between the ink chamber 11 and the outside is shut off. Therefore, the ink in the head does not run out, so that entry of air into the head can be prevented. |
