PURPOSE:To enhance color forming properties, raw preservabillty and the stability of a developed color image by adding a specific salicylic acid derivative or a metal salt thereof and a metal compd. to the thermal color forming layer containing an electron donating leuco dye and an electron acceptive compd. provided on a support in a solid dispersed state. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material wherein a thermal color forming layer containing an electron donating leuco dye and an electron acceptive compd. is provided on a support, a salicylic acid derivative represented by formula I or a metal salt thereof and a metal compd. are added to the thermal color forming layer. In the formula, R1 is an alkyl group or an aryl group, X is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group or a halogen atom, M is a hydrogen atom or an n-valent metal atom and n is an integer. If necessary, zinc oxide and a fluorane compd. represented by formula II (wherein R2 and R3 are an alkylene group or an aryl group and R4-R6 are a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom or an alkylene group) are added to the thermal color forming layer. |
