<p>PURPOSE:To synchronize audio data and video data with a high precision. CONSTITUTION:In the video and audio digital compression device which receives video data and audio data and digitally compresses these data to send them as multiplexed data, a video data compressing circuit 18 compresses digital video data in the effective horizontal period of a preliminarily determined line to obtain compressed video data. An audio data compressing circuit 19 compresses digital audio data synchronously with the effective horizontal period to obtain compressed audio data. A selector 20 multiplexes compressed video data, compressed audio data, and a audio discrimination synchronizing signal for discrimination between compressed video data and compressed audio data and temporarily stores them in a data buffer 22 as multiplexed data. This multiplexed data is sent from the data buffer as transmission data in accordance with a transmission clock.</p> |
