PURPOSE:To provide an ultrasonic probe in which an ultrasonic wave reflected on the spherical surface of an acoustic lens can be attenuated sufficiently without requiring any sound absorbing material by lengthening the propagation distance of the reflected ultrasonic wave up to a piezoelectric element. CONSTITUTION:An ultrasonic wave is radiated from a piezoelectric element 1 into an acoustic lens 4A and impinges on a sample 6 in order to detect an inner flaw. The ultrasonic wave is focused on a lens plane 7 and impinges on the sample 6 through water 5 before returning back to the piezoelectric element 1. A part of the ultrasonic wave is reflected on the contact face between the water 5 and the lens plane 7 and then reflected repetitively in a groove 10 made in the side face of the acoustic lens 4A before returning back to the piezoelectric element 1. |
