PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of a down shift shock owing to a wheel spin during a start by a method wherein when a starting state is detected, shift up control by a change gear control means is stopped during a preset period. CONSTITUTION:In a stop control process, when a car speed from a car speed sensor 302 is not 0, a preholding preceding car speed is 0, and a throttle opening from a throttle opening sensor 303 is higher than or equal to a idle decision threshold, it is decided that a vehicle is in a start state. A timer is started, a stop flag 1 is set to 1 during a time in which a preset time elapses. When a time is up, the stop flag is set to 0 to announce it to change gear control process. In the change gear control process, the stop flag is 1, the present number of pulses is set as the target number of pulses and change gear control in an up shift direction is not effected. When the stop flag is 0, given change gear control is applied according to a car speed. This constitution prevents the occurrence of a down shift shock when a drive wheel is slipped during a start. |
