A first part quantity of chips is pressed under pressure and heat to form a plate (9). A second part quantity of chips (5) is heated and fed into a cold shaping press (6,10). The hot plate (9) is fed into the shape press and is pressed with the second part quantity of chips (5) to form a load pallet.
