LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY FOR OBSERVATION AT VARIOUS ANGLE WITH RESPECT TO NORMAL AXIS FORMING RIGHT ANGLE WITH DISPLAY

PURPOSE: To provide a liquid crystal display for looking from various angle concerning a normal axis forming a right angle with the display. CONSTITUTION: This liquid crystal display includes a polarizer layer 222 with an absorbing axis, an analyzer layer 224 with an absorbing axis forming substantially right angle with the absorbing axis of the polarizer layer 222, liquid crystal layer 226 arranged between the layers 222 and 224 and provided with a director indicating the twist of orientation concerning the normal line through the layers, a first electrode 212 near the first main surface of the liquid crystal layer 226 and a second electrode 214 near the second main surface of the liquid crystal layer. The first and second electrodes are suited so as to apply voltage through the layer 226 when the electrode is connected to the source of potential. The liquid crystal display includes a compensator including surely double refractive O-plate compensators 250 and 252 arranged between the layers 222 and 224 by orientating a main symmetry axis substantially at an angle beam concerning the normal line.
