Process for measuring position of vertical hollow shaft

The process measures the position of the vertical hollow shaft of a rotating machine using the principle of the inverted pendulum (11) formed by a wire whose lower end is fixed to the centre of the base of the interior of the shaft (2) while an optical measuring unit (16) gives the position of the wire. The position of the wire is recorded in three angular positions of the shaft when the wire is simply fixed and when it is mounted off-centre at the upper end.The circles passing through the recorded points allow calculation of the shaft position.
