The method consists of printing the design (16) to be transferred on the inner surface of a thermo-shrinkable plastics sleeve (15), fitting the sleeve onto the article (10) and then applying heat to it to shrink the sleeve and sublimate the ink(s) used for the design. The sleeve is heated by a progressive increase in temperature until the design sublimation temperature is reached. It is then held at that temperature until a complete transfer of the design has taken place.In a variant a template can be used for the initial shrinkage of the sleeve, which is then transferred to the bottle for the sublimation stage. |
