<p>A double-talk detecting method which is suitable for an echo canceler and by which double-talk is detected even when the transmission level difference between a far-end talker and near-end talker is relatively large. The echo canceler is installed in a telephone line network which transmits both the voice of a far-end talker transmitted through a digital circuit and the voice of a near-end talker through an analog circuit. Prescribed analysis parameters are extracted from both a first voice signal corresponding to the voice of the far-end talker sent to a hybrid circuit from the echo canceler and a second voice signal corresponding to the voice of the near-end talker inputted to the echo canceler through the hybrid circuit. The analysis parameters include the voice pitches, frequency components, etc., of each voice signal. The analysis parameters of both voice signals or the correlative value, etc., of the variation of the analysis parameters are calculated and double-talk is detected based on the results of the calculation.</p> |
