Reducing the eluting ability of sulphates and chlorides in ash and slag from waste incineration plants comprises mixing the ash and slag after removing metallic residues and uncalcined organic residues with at least 0.5 wt.% Al(OH)3 and also CaO and/or Ca(OH)2 so that at least 1 wt.% free Ca(OH)2 is available, where an amt. of water is added which forms a non-dumpy mixt. which is opt. sealed.
