The selector device has a selector slide (10) adjusted by an electric motor (8) controlled by a gear control appts. (7). By this adjustment, at least the automatic gear box stages "D", "N", "R", "P" can be set as selected by the driver via a control installation (2).The gear stages "D", "R", and "N" are exclusively set by the electric motor, whilst to set the parking stop in the gear stage "P", a mechanically operable spring accumulator (14) is provided, which sets the parking stop when an ignition current circuit is without current. The spring accumulator is operated by an unlocking device comprising an effective connection between the control installation and the spring accumulator.
