A wound covering for medicinal use consists of a carrier material of plant and/or animal fibres and/or fibres of polymers and a polymer material which essentially coats and/or strengthens the fibres, this polymer material consisting of a polyhydroxy butyric acid and comprising 1-50 wt.% of the total mass of the wound covering.
