A front axle differential 14 has wheel drive shafts 15, 16. A central differential 5 driven by the output gear 20 of the gearbox is arranged parallel to the front wheel drive shafts, on the side thereof facing away from drive gear 20. Front axle differential 14 and rear axle drive shaft 19 are driven from the central differential 5. Particular economy of space is achieved by the output gear 20 driving the central differential 5 via a first hollow shaft 2 co-axial with the front axle differential 14, and by shafts 6, 10 leading from both sides of the central differential 5, shaft 10 being drivably connected to the front-axle differential via a second hollow shaft 13 co-axial with said front differential, and shaft 6 being drivably connected to the rear axle drive shaft 19 and rear axle differential 9.
