<p>An apparatus and method for installing binder elements (14) onto a stack of pre-punched paper (12) including a platform (24) for holding the paper, reciprocating guide fingers (34) for inserting through the pre-punched holes to engage free ends (45) of curled fingers (44) of the binder element whereas the spine part (42) of the binder element is restrained by a holder (18) which moves laterally to spread apart the curled fingers. The spread apart curled fingers are then flattened and driven upwardly through the holes as the guide fingers retreat upwardly and thereafter separate from the curled fingers to complete the binding of the pages.</p> |
