Composite filter comprising a particle filter and an adsorption filter is mfd. by the wet fleece process. By successively drawing particle filter layers, and adsorption filter layers, from a mixture of active carbon particles and fibres, into a sieve with the same dimensions as the end product. The aq. dispersion mixture, also contains inorganic and/or organic materials, for impregnating the adsorption material, in order to enable chemisorption to occur as well as physisorption.
