The unit comprises a frame holding a baseplate (10) having a holder for the article. The frame has two opposite grooves (6,8) so that the baseplate can be slid into one (6) of the grooves and then in this position pushed additionally into the other groove (8) so that the baseplate is held by both grooves.The baseplate can have a ledge (12) on one of its edges which slide into the grooves. A security part (14) can be inserted in the ledge to fix the baseplate. The baseplate has a hole (18) through which the electrical cable (20) of an item is passed to the socket. A channel preferably runs along at least one of the grooves for holding a data information carrier.
