Flexible cool packing for keeping body part cool

A flexible packing comprises a pouch (1) containing a coolant (4). The coolant is a substance held in a number of movable hollow chambers (5,15,25,35,45) which are freely movable in a cooling medium esp. a gel (6). At the working temperature, it exists in a solid phase and on reception of warmth following the cold treatment of a body part, it undergoes a phase change. The phase change takes place between -25 and +10 degrees C. The temperature of the coolant rises only after the end of the phase change, hence the coolant functions as a type of heat accumulator. Water may be used as the coolant. The chambers are spherical or cylindrical.
