The plate heat exchanger has double plates made only as a single layer in the region over which the flow passes but which does not take part in the exchange of heat. The boundary line (41) ends between the single-layer and double-layer regions at the external edges (42,43) of the double plate.Seals (11,12) are fitted between the double plates. The seals enclose the flow space and the through-flow apertures (3-6). The seals (12) for the other medium round the through-flow apertures are higher than those (11) which bound the flow space.
