Equipment for welding the full area of a continuous film, esp. a roofing sheet onto a surface (9) comprises: (a) a frame (11) which moves cross the surface (9) to be covered, and(b) a support (15) on the frame (11) carrying a roll (16) of the film at right angles to the travel direction (F) of the frame (11). A guiding system (17, 18) aligns film (8) drawn from the roll (16) during lay down on the surface (9). A heater (20) in front of the guides (17, 18) heats the surface (9) and/or the film (8) and a pressure applicator (12) behind the guides (17, 18) presses the film (8) onto the surface (9).
