Ceramic articles

A water soluble acrylate is polymerised to bind ceramic particles in an aqueous dispersion, the water is removed to provide an article comprising ceramic particles in a polymer matrix and the article is heated to remove the matrix and densify the article. The acrylate may be ammonium acrylate or ammonium methacrylate and the ceramic particles may be eg. alumina, with polymerisation being carried out in a mould.
