The security system includes a security controller 110 which controls security devices including an engine imobiliser 114, a siren 115 and hazard lights 116. The security controller 110 receives "lock" and "unlock" signals from a portable transmitter unit 20. If the vehicle 10 is stolen and correct authorisation given, a remote station 30 will transmit a "disable" signal which will cause the vehicle controller 110 to disable the vehicle 10. The portable transmitter unit 20, the remote transmitter 312 and the vehicle receiver are tuned to the same frequency. The vehicle security controller 110 can transmit signals which can be received by the remote receiver 311 and allow the remote station 310 to track the vehicle 10. The remote station 30 can transmit signals which override signals from the portable transmitter. |
