<p>The present invention is a method of controlling the overall operation of an automatic transmission with an electronic controller, by using signals indicating gear speed, shift lever position and engine throttle position, determining and controlling the torque converter conditions (lock-up mode, turbine speed and acceleration) and influencing the cycle time of the solenoid valves which control the hydraulically actuated friction elements that initiate the gear change.</p> |
