Light from a halogen lamp (S) passes through the sample holder (1) to the entry slit (F) of the spectrometer which has a plano-convex collimating lens (L3) with its plane face bonded to a transmission grating (F). Wavelength-disparate images of the slit are focused on a mask (M) which has a slit (f1-fn) for each spectral line with an optical fibre connection to a photodiode (p1-pn). An electronic analyser (3) and display (4) verify that the measured amplitudes at wavelengths on either side of a central peak lie within the expected ranges. <IMAGE> |
