<p>In the present invention there is disclosed a process for preparing alkyl 7-(substituted cyclopentyl)-heptanoates of the general formula I, in which R represents tetrahydropyranyl, 4-methoxytetrahydropyranyl, tetrahydrofuranyl, 1-ethoxyethyl or 1-methyl-1-methoxyethyl group, Re1 represents methyl or ethyl, Re2 represents acetyl or a benzoyl group. The above-described compounds represent an important intermediate being employed particularly in the preparation of prostaglandin analogs that are modified in omega-chain (bottom chain). The present invention employs new combination for protection of functional groups in the form of stable and easily purifiable derivatives and these protecting groups can be either individually or regioselectively removed by employing usual deprotecting agents.</p> |
